March Calendar
March Madness is upon us.... If a student has not joined PTA, as of yet, this is a great opportunity for them.
Throughout the remainder of March they will be able to join for $4.00 and receive free tickets to the Spring Fling.
If they join:

Dear Parents,
The Kindergarten classes are going to participate in a Kindergarten Community which will be held on Thursday, April 2 from 8:15-9:30 am. In the Kindergarten Community, each classroom will be a “store.” The students will have time to work in their classroom store and shop at all of the stores. The stores will include a bakery, a movie theatre, beauty shop, a stamp and sticker store and more! Your child will earn play money based on their behavior for the next few weeks, (ex. One penny a day earned for excellent behavior; no money earned if they do not have a good day). Therefore, those students who have the best behavior each day will earn the most money to spend in the stores. Students will be expected to count out their money and also trade their money at the ‘bank’ before shopping in the stores. For example, they will be expected to trade five pennies for one nickel, etc.
We need your help to make this Kindergarten Community a success. Please send in the following materials by Wednesday, April 1 to your child’s teacher. Also, please let your child’s teacher know if you can volunteer your time to help out with the class store. If you volunteer during the Community, we ask that you please leave younger siblings at home since the school will be very busy during this time. We appreciate all that you do to help make a wonderful learning experience for your child at Austell Primary!
Standards addressed during Kindergarten Community:
SSKE4 The student will explain that people must make choices because
they cannot have everything they want.
MKN2 Students will use representations to model addition and
subtraction.
i. Count out pennies to buy items that together cost less than 30 cents.
j. Make fair trades involving combinations of pennies and nickels or
pennies and dimes
