Thank you for supporting our news broadcast this year. First graders will have an opportunity to audition for the new news team in the early fall.
Sekai came up with he idea of giving the Kindergarten students a glimpse into what happens in a First Grade classroom. She titled it "A Day in the Life of a First Grader." She and Chloe presented some of the major activities that they do in their classroom. Click below to watch their special report:
The WLAM News team brainstormed ideas for the final broadcasts of the year. Because AR is a large part of our academic program, the students decided to present a show on what would be required to attend the AR Beach Party at the end of the year. The entire team took part in the creation of the program:

On Friday, February 15th Chloe interviewed Coach Pruitt. The anchors were very excited about the interview because they love our PE teacher. Click here to view the broadcast:

Chloe was able to get an interview with our visiting author, Mrs. Ami Blackford. She has written a series of books beginning with the Quest for the Dragon Stone. The children were very excited to be able to work with the dragon artifacts and speak with her one-on-one. Click below to see the broadcast:

The new Spring Crew wrote, produced, directed, and performed their first broadcast on February 1st. Chloe decided to interview the Teacher of the Year. Mikayla nd Genevieve wrote their own script. The new intro was created with a partnership between Chloe, Sekai, and Kimmi. The team worked very hard on the project. Click here to see how it turned out:

On Friday, December 14th the Fall crew completed their final broadcast for the year. The students drew names to decide which roles they would play. Some chose different jobs and some kept the same. Veraunikka and Jada switched places and Karina and Deborah switched places. All had a good time. Thank you all for a wonderful season. We will begin with the new crew after some training in January.

On Friday, December 7th Karina interviewed Mr. Frisbie, the music teacher. He discussed the upcoming Austell Tree lighting in which the First Grade Chorus will perform. Please click below to see the broadcast:
On Friday, November 30th the news team interviewed Mrs. Schwab, our new Art teacher. She discussed the Art show from the night before. Additionally, the students announced the new news team members for the spring. There were many candidates, but only a few were chosen. Congratulations to the following news team members:

On Friday, Nov. 16th the news team reported on the new cafeteria manager. Karina was able to go behind the scenes in the cafeteria and interview Mr. Bowen, the new cafeteria manager.
On November 2nd the team reported on the new Attendance Incentive program. Karina interviewed Mrs. Jackson to find out what the requirements were for attending the Attendance Party and for winning the bikes. Jada and Elliot announced the winners of the bikes- Roberto and Glory. The report was a success!

On October 26th the news team had the great pleasure of introducing the new Jump Rope and Tumbling Team members. Karina was able to interview our illustrious Coach Pruitt to discover the requirements for making the team.

Our WLAM News team reported on our upcoming school book fair. We experienced a Book Fair Blizzard of sorts. The students were excited about reporting on the new books available at the fair. Click here to see our blizzard in action.
Our news team decided to interview Vicki Ray, our school's new Assistant Principal. Karina developed a list of questions and interviewed her in her office. After an exciting first year, the 2006-2007 WLAM News Team signed off for the last time. We will miss you all as you go on to second grade. We are excited about the upcoming Kindergarten students, and expect next year to be even better.

On March 16th the students reported on the upcoming Book Fair. Jarrod and Samantha performed a skit based on the Book Fair Beach theme.

On March 2nd the students interviewed the media center's special friend the Shelf Elf. The students were excited about being able to use their writing and acting talents to present this special report.

On February 16th our news team decided to do a special "Snow Day" report. Not having had a snow day all year, the students demonstrated the proper way to make a paper snowflake.

On February 2nd the news team reported on our school's Jump Rope and Tumbling Teams' performance. The students performed for our Afterschool program and again for Southern Polytech's basketball game. Each student's talent was showcased with an interview at the end of the show.
WLAM News team members prepared a special report about the Red Cross Kids Helping Kids project at Austell Primary. The coordinator, Ms. Pruitt, was interviewed and students were able to collect over $126 for the noble cause.
WLAM reporters introduce the Kindergarten students to Accelerated Reader.
